From Student+, we organize the "Good Start group". This group is for students who need extra support with the start of their studies. There is no set program for the Good Start group, we will look together at how the start of your studies is going, and think with you about questions and challenges you experience. A mentor is the name given to ongoing supervision of a student by a teacher/educator at FHICT. For this additional guidance, the teacher who is appointed as a mentor may be granted an additional 7 hours per semester. These hours can only be granted by a student counsellor (Fontys OER). The award applies to the entire study period. The student chooses his own mentor: a teacher who is willing and able to fulfill the role of mentor.
The semester coach remains the contact person and assessor of the professional development of the student.
Step-by-step plan for requesting the mentor
Do you have any questions? Then send an email to Student+ at studentplus@fontys.nl
Could you use help in creating and maintaining an overview and a schedule? Then join the planning group, one hour a week at R10 Eindhoven. Not only will we discuss planning itself but also other topics that contribute to this. Think of procrastination, concentration and sleep. There is also room for one-on-one moments with the trainer and there is a weekly evaluation.

As a student, you may encounter various obstacles during your studies, for which you could use some individual support. A study coach can provide this individual support. The study coaches are not teachers, but volunteers who are connected to Fontys ICT Eindhoven and Tilburg. The study coach will discuss with the student what their need is, examples are: planning, presenting, finding/maintaining an internship, writing skills, doing research, cooperating etc.
Students with autism, dyslexia, ADHD, psychological problems and/or ADD experience more obstacles in their studies. For these students, there are extra coaches available who are familiar with these themes. You can also get guidance from a coach for other coaching questions. You do not need to have a diagnosis to get a coach.
Mail to studentplus@fontys.nl for more information.

Moving into a room is of course part of being a student, especially if you have to travel a great distance to get to school. Getting a room or living space, especially nowadays, can be very difficult. Student+ can help you with this process, because how exactly do you get a room in the Netherlands? For example: deciding what kind of accommodation you are looking for, searching the internet, writing a message to the landlord or tenants, presenting yourself at a viewing and entering into a contract.
How do we help? In canvas, we have posted documents with tips and descriptions so you can do some research beforehand. You can access them with the code. Do you still have questions or would you like someone to take a look together? Two online workshops are organised in which we look at the process together. In these, you can also share your experience and spar with people who are in the same process. Meeting will be in English if international students join.

At the 'Fontys Hogescholen' (Fontys University of Applied Sciences), we believe that both students and employees having the feeling that they are in a safe environment is a fundamental right. Everyone also has the right to be treated with respect and dignity. If you ever feel that there are any indications of bullying, intimidation, sexual harassment, racism, discrimination, aggression or violence taking place, it is important that action is taken swiftly. This is also the case if there is any indication of violence or the threat of violence in students' domestic environments.
This website contains all of the information that you need to get in touch with our 'Vertrouwenspersonen' (Confidential Counsellors) and outlines what they can do for you.
As a student, there are various possibilities for obtaining financial support:

One on one guidance towards a healthy lifestyle
Are you unable to work on your exercise goals due to an injury, lack of motivation or too much (study) stress? Or are you, for example, overweight and do you want to become more active, but you don't know what is responsible? You can now sign up for an individual trajectory of 10 personal training sessions with a Movement and Lifestyle coach. In this trajectory you will be guided one on one by students of Fontys Sports College.
Effective exercise programs and lifestyle analysis
An Exercise and Lifestyle Coach is a professional who trains and coaches people in achieving their personal goals focused on health, fitness and vitality. This goes further than just physical training: this coach also has 'medical' knowledge so that targeted training can be done in the event of injuries or physical complaints. In addition, an Exercise and Lifestyle Coach works with you on practical feasible solutions for your goals. Behavioral change is often necessary to reduce complaints and achieve goals.
More exercise and less stress: 1 + 1 = 3
New this year at lifestyle training+ is the focus on stress: in the coaching process we also want to help you (if you need it) in a healthier way to deal with (study) stress.
What does the route look like?
The first session consists (partly) of an intake. In the following sessions, strength and endurance will be trained in particular, and specific exercises will be performed to prevent possible injuries. You will also receive practical tools during the sessions and you will be coached so that you are in a position to make the right choices in your own time in addition to the training sessions to achieve your goals. After the program you should have sufficient handles to continue training/exercising independently in a responsible manner. You will be supervised by a 3rd or 4th year student of Sports Science under the supervision of teachers.
Cost, location and times
As a student you can participate FREE in a trajectory. For this you get 10 personal training sessions of one hour. The time at which the training takes place is individually tailored, the options are:
Monday between 09.00 – 17.00 hrs
Tuesday between 09.00 – 12.00 and 15.00-17.00
Wednesday between 09:00 and 17:00 o'clock
Thursday between 09.00 – 17.00 hrs
Fridaybetween 09.00 – 17.00 hrs
We have two beautiful fitness rooms where the training sessions can take place: one at Fontys Sporthogeschool (Genneperparken) and one at Paramedische Hogeschool (Theodoor Fliednerstraat). In addition, in consultation with the participant, training can also take place outside or coaching sessions can take place online via MS Teams.

How do you feel about yourself? Are you sleeping well? Do you dare address your fellow students to give feedback? Do you set your own limits? Do you enjoy both school and private life? It's great if you can answer these questions positively. But what if you can't? To support your mental fitness and resilience, you can use online self-help modules, also known as e-health, for free with your Fontys account.
Online self-help modules are online modules that you can go through by yourself on various topics. You can do these online modules completely anonymously and independently. You choose which and how many modules you take. You decide when it is convenient for you. Your student coach can also recommend an online module following a conversation with you.
Fontys has purchased these online modules, through an external partner Mirro. In the anonymized online environment of Mirro, you learn to deal with everyday (stress) situations. Each module contains tips, exercises and experience videos. In this way you can work independently on your own mental fitness in an accessible way, to feel good about yourself (again)! For example about giving feedback, sleeping better, getting your study/life balance and dealing with stress as a student. Some modules go into more depth, such as the modules anxiety and panic, brooding and 'Mastering your smartphone'.
The Sexual Violence Center is for everyone who has been involved with sexual violence. You can contact us securely and anonymously.
